## How this list is ordered

Programs are ordered by the median earnings of their Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduates four years after completing, highest first. Only programs with a reported earnings cohort in the South appear. The figure is the median for federally aided completers of the program who were working and not enrolled, measured four years after completing. For 6 of the 78 listed programs the figure is the two-year completion median rather than the four-year one. The metric does not adjust for graduate school enrollment, cost, or who enrolls, and it is not a measure of teaching quality. The spread from The University of Texas at Austin to the bottom of the list is $93,896, and the gap between The University of Texas at Austin and Rice University is $9,347.

## Job market context in the South

Graduates of Electrical and Electronics Engineering programs in the South enter a labor market linked to occupations such as Engineers, All Other, Electrical Engineers, and Engineers, All Other. The median annual wage across those occupations is $117,244, and a quarter of workers in those occupations earn less than $88,700. Projections for 2024 to 2034 show about 12,900 openings a year, or about 249 openings a year for every hundred graduates, with more projected openings than graduates. Employment in those occupations is projected to be about 7.6% higher over that period. Wages and top occupations exclude management occupations; openings include them. The ranking above uses graduate earnings four years after completing, which reflect early-career outcomes rather than the broader occupational wage distribution.
