## How this list is ordered

Programs are ordered by the median earnings of their Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduates four years after completing, highest first. Only programs with a reported earnings cohort in the West appear. The figures are medians for federally aided completers who were working and not enrolled, measured four years after completing for most programs. For 5 of the 54 listed programs the figure is the two-year completion median rather than the four-year one. The metric does not adjust for graduate school enrollment, cost, or who enrolls, and it is not a measure of teaching quality. The gap between University of California-Berkeley and University of Southern California is $69,011, and the spread from the top of the list to the bottom reaches $137,538.

## Job market context in the West

Graduates of Electrical and Electronics Engineering programs in the West enter a labor market linked to occupations such as Electrical Engineers and Engineers, All Other. The median annual wage across those occupations is $129,335, and a quarter of workers in those occupations earn less than $99,379. Projections for 2024 to 2034 show about 10,540 openings a year, or about 233 openings a year for every hundred graduates, with more projected openings than graduates. Projections for 2024 to 2034 put employment in those occupations about 8.1% higher. Wages and top occupations exclude management occupations; openings include them. The ranking above uses the median earnings of graduates four years after completing, which is a different measure from the occupational wage figures described here.
