How this list is ordered
Schools are ordered by the median earnings of their Health Professions graduates four years after completing, highest first. Only schools with a reported Health Professions earnings cohort in the South appear. The figure captures federally aided completers who were working and not enrolled, measured four years after finishing. For 13 of the 336 listed programs the figure is the two-year completion median rather than the four-year one. The metric does not adjust for graduate school enrollment, cost, or who enrolls, and it is not a measure of teaching quality. The range and median below cover the 270 schools with a published figure. Davis & Elkins College leads the list at $105,127, just $1,313 ahead of Bowie State University at $103,814.
Job market context in the South
Health Professions graduates in the South enter occupations such as Nursing Assistants, Registered Nurses, and Medical Assistants. The median annual wage across those occupations is $64,341, and a quarter of workers in those occupations earn less than $53,214. Projections for 2024 to 2034 put employment in those occupations about 11.6% higher, with about 757 openings a year for every hundred graduates, more projected openings than graduates. Wages and top occupations exclude management occupations; openings include them. The ranking above uses graduate earnings four years after completing, not the broader occupational wage figures shown here.
