Programs are ordered by the median earnings of their Political Science and Government graduates four years after completing, highest first. Only programs with a reported earnings cohort in the Midwest appear. The figure is the median earnings of federally aided Political Science and Government graduates who were working and not enrolled, measured four years after completing. For 13 of the 129 listed programs the figure is the two-year completion median rather than the four-year one. The metric does not adjust for graduate school enrollment, cost, or who enrolls, and it is not a measure of teaching quality. The gap between University of Notre Dame and Washington University in St Louis is $3,519, and the spread from the top of the list to the bottom is $68,639.
